Couger Annie's GardenYou have to see it to believe it. British Columbia legend Cougar Annie raised her family, ran a nursery, post office and general store as well as a mail-order business out of remote Boat Basin, in Hesquiat Harbour, a remote area on the west coast of Vancouver Island, BC. Ada Annie Rae-Arthur died in 1985 at almost ninety-seven years old, after nearly seventy years in her private garden. Over a hundred varieties of trees and shrubs survive to this day, as well as many perennials and bulbs. Her orchard still produces fruit. This garden is a testament to the character of one woman who persevered against all odds. The current owner of the garden, Peter Buckland, has established the Boat Basin Foundation to continue its preservation. Book one of our tours to Cougar Annie's Garden, and see what one pioneering woman carved out of the wilderness. This is one garden tour you will never forget!
